Biographies
Annie Fletcher ( B.Ed, G.D.D.E.)
Rhythm Antics Founder and Director.
Annie (a.k.a. M.M.) has over 20 years teaching and performance experience. This includes many years as a professional children's entertainer and as a community performer with the Perth carnival band, Freo Samba and Djembe group, Djembe Sisters. Annie has always had a strong interest in cross curricula art and loves the accessibility of percussion as a “hands on” instant musical experience. Annie also currently teaches Hand Drumming to adults and special groups in the community.
Dave Matthews has been playing drum kit in various bands for 20 years. He studied Djembe technique in Gambia , West Africa and Melbourne with a countless number of Djembe Masters and teachers. He performed as the lead drummer with the group Djembecity in Melbourne and performed original percussion for a recent C.D. recording with the band Lean2. He also currently plays percussion for the group “The Crazy Magnets & the Double D Rhythm Section”.
Adrian Woodhouse is a VCA Drama graduate and an all round performer of many years. He has performed in singing roles with the Melbourne Opera Company and has acted and directed in numerous musical theatre productions. His musical talents include vocals, guitar, mandolin, viola, percussion, piano, didgeridoo and tap dancing.
Guest Performers:
Katherine Anderson began her musical journey with her Primary School choir. At Eltham High School she performed with the Symphonic Band, playing the French Horn. More recently she has continued her musical passion with percussion and currently also performs with the community Djembe group “Doowlla”.
Kate Fletcher is Rhythm Antics junior member ( also know as the “tic”). She loves singing, dancing, drama, circus skills, flute and percussion. She currently plays flute with the Loyola College Concert Band and has previously performed with the “Doowlla Kids' djembe group. Kate had her debut performance with Rhythm Antics at the ‘06 Maldon Folk Festival where she captured all the hearts of the audience in the Children's Music Circus.
